Keep the shape of your organisation and what it costs in one place.

Metis is a restructuring and cost comparison tool for SMEs, independent consultants and audit & restructuring firms. Draw the structure you have, lock it as a Baseline and design the next one — Metis tracks every change, works out what the new shape costs, and builds your slides from the same chart.

  1. Baseline is locked

Set Future State takes a before-photo called Baseline. The Future State is the chart you keep editing.

  2. − Removed

Mia Chen, Sales Operations Manager. Show or hide removed roles from the View menu.

  3. ↔ Modified

Tom Hale now reports to Ana Ruiz; moved from Sales to Customer Success.

  4. + Added

Customer Success Specialist: a vacant seat, ready to hire.

  5. Priced from the same roles

Annual cost goes from $767K to $737K: salary × FTE, added up.

  6. One-off money, year 1

Redundancy $48K (6 months’ salary) plus hiring $11K (2 months’).

Sample organisation, illustrative figures. Annual cost = salary × FTE across the roles shown.

How it works

The same chart, from first import to final slide.

Four stops, in the order the work usually happens. The sample organisation above follows you through each one.

  1. Stop 1

Start from the chart you have

Import a .csv, .xlsx or .xls file where each row has a Role ID and a Parent ID, or build the chart by hand. Common column names are matched for you; salary, FTE, department and employment type come along if your file has them.

  2. Stop 2

Lock the before, then change freely

Set Future State takes a locked before-photo called Baseline. You keep editing the chart, and every role you add, move or remove is tracked against it and listed as a change.

    Changes vs Baseline

    • + Added

Customer Success Specialist — Customer Success · added to the plan

    • ↔ Modified

Tom Hale — Customer Success · now reports to Ana Ruiz; moved from Sales to Customer Success

    • − Removed

Mia Chen — Sales · removed from the plan

  3. Stop 3

Cost every version of the plan

The Financial page prices the chart and keeps the cost current as it changes. Model scenarios with different cost assumptions, see the impact against Baseline on one dashboard, and export the detailed data when a deeper model needs it.

Year 1 cost bridge · Future State vs Baseline

One-off costs put year 1 $29K above Baseline; the $30K a year saving carries on after that.

  4. Stop 4

    Take it into the room

Make a deck from the chart. Slides read the chart live, so a late edit shows up without rebuilding anything. Present full-screen with the arrow keys, or export PDF, PNG or SVG.

  • Future State counts as one of a chart’s scenarios. Extra scenarios change the money assumptions, not the shape.
  • Each account holds up to 4 org charts. “Roles priced” limits financial modelling, not chart size.
  • Sign-in is by Clerk and data is stored in Convex, both independently SOC 2 Type II audited. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and saved charts are tied to your signed-in account.
